SynthIceSpec is a public code tp generate an infinite number of synthetic ice spectra in near- and mid- infrared. Absorption bands are produced by Gaussian or sum of Gaussian, directly fit from laboratory spectra of pure and mixed species. It provides the optical depth or flux as a function of the wavelength and resolution of James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) instruments, such as NIRSpec and MIRI. Fiducial noise, extracted from real JWST data, can be added. Silicate features are also taken into account.
SynthIceSpec is flexible: ice column densities can be provided by the user or by reading chemical model outputs. We also provide the IceSpecData, where all the Gaussian fit parameters are compiled. Any new ice species can be added easily directly to the database. The produced spectra are ready to be used in the JWST Exposure Time Calculator (https://jwst.etc.stsci.edu/) and help to setup future observations.
The code is developped by Angèle Taillard (angele.taillard@cab.inta-csic.es).
